Capillary transport from barrel to clamshell droplets on conical fibers

چکیده
Droplets spontaneously move when they are placed at the tip of a cone surface. Using three-dimensionally-printed structures, an experimental exploration large panel configurations regarding aperture angle finds evidence for change droplet geometry while moving along conical fiber---from barrel to clamshell shape. The position this geometrical transition is estimated and two models proposed describe motion droplets.

Observation and modelling of clamshell droplets on vertical fibres subjected to gravitational and drag forces.
Extensive experimental investigation of the wetting processes of fibre-liquid systems during air filtration (when drag and gravitational forces are acting) has shown many important features, including droplet extension, oscillatory motion, and detachment of drops from fibres as airflow velocity increases, and also movement or flow of droplets along fibres. A detailed experimental study of the p...

متن کاملCritical angle for electrically driven coalescence of two conical droplets.
Oppositely charged drops attract one another and, when the drops are sufficiently close, electrical stresses deform the leading edges of each drop into cones. We investigate whether or not the liquid cones coalesce immediately following contact. Using high-speed imaging, we find that the coalescence behavior depends on the cone angle, which we control by varying the drop size and the applied vo...
متن کاملEFFECTS OF MAGNETIC FIELD ON THE RED CELL ON NUTRITIONAL TRANSPORT IN CAPILLARY-TISSUE EXCHANGE SYSTEM
A mathematical model for nutritional transport in capillary tissues exchange system in thepresence of magnetic field has been studied. In this case, the cell is deformed. Due to concentrationgradients, the dissolved nutrient in substrate diffuses into surrounding tissue. Theanalytical method is based on perturbation technique while the numerical simulation is basedon finite difference scheme. R...
